 Designed
for younger adults, ages 25-40, but open to all, this trip is full of
action. Hike in the lava fields of an active volcano, then relax in the
hot springs below, at night, and watch the lava flow. Follow the
path of monkeys in the jungle or boat next to crocodiles--Watch out for
lazy iguanas falling from the trees above! Hike through the mountainous
rainforest, near the continental divide, to a misty waterfall.
Horseback ride across the dry, upper plains; get muddy in the natural
spa; swim in the waterhole; and hike in Rincon de la Vieja National
Park. Zip across the forest canopy, then spend a couple hours
rock climbing. Meander to the Pacific Coast, and besides swimming or
buggy boarding in the warm rolling waves, watch a sea turtle emerge
from the surf and lay its eggs. Only in Costa Rica is all this possible!Enrique, our Costa Rican guide will travel with us the entire time to give you a personal glimpse into the life and culture of this interesting place. You can practice speaking Spanish with him, or you can relax, as his English is perfect. Despite the turbulence that besets its neighbors, this is a peaceful country with the best working democracy in Central America and the highest literacy rate in the region. We have traveled to Costa Rica on eight trips and continually enjoy the beauty. We will walk some of the beaches to see sea turtles.You will also be able to swim in the hot water that runs from the area around Volan Fortuna, an active volcano. Many people know of the National Parks of Costa Rica. Incredibly this nation has set aside 11% of its space as preserved area. We will travel by van to different areas of the country. Because of the small size of Costa Rica you can visit different regions without major drives. All of our lodgings are chosen for their uniqueness. You can relax after a day of hiking with a natural fruit drink in hand on an open veranda. Lodging is 2 people to a room with most rooms having a private bathroom and hot shower. Most food is included in the price. If you like fresh fruit, then this is the place. For coffee drinkers, this is the first step to heaven. A wide diversity of food is available including fish, sea food, chicken and beef. Try Rick's favorite--ceviche. Sanitation is good in Costa Rica, so eating out is fun. The travel distance from most places in the USA to Costa Rica is only about 1/2 day. Time zone change is minimal which eliminates jet lag problems.
