ITINERARY
All hiking time and verticals are estimates only and the itinerary is
subject to change due to trail conditions, weather, or other changes.
- DAY
ONE: JULY 10 - ARRIVAL DAY.
Rendezvous at 6:30 pm Hotel Alber Bar. Introductions, orientation, trip
description, followed by a get together dinner.
- DAY TWO: JULY 11 - THE
HIMMELBAUER: GUIDED BY ME, 5 hours- 1000 ft vertical ascent and
descent. Hike across mountain pastures to the Himmelbauer Inn .
We will return by a different trail. High point: 5000ft. Wonderful
mountain views. Moderate hike.
- DAY THREE: JULY 12 -
AUERNIG AND WOLLIGERHUTTE: GUIDED by Mr. Willhelm. Alber-Haub. 5 hours.
3100 ft. vertical ascent and descent. Hike from
Mallnitz to Wolliggerhutte at 5200 ft. then up to
the peak of Auernig at a high point of 7000 ft.. Return to Mallnitz by
a different trail. Incredible views throughout the hike. Moderate Hike
- DAY FOUR: JULY 13 -
HAGENERHUTTE. GUIDED BY ME. 6 HOURS. 4100 or 2300 ft.
vertical ascent. 2100 ft. descent. Hike up to the top of the pass and
the Hagenerhutte through alder-wood, Alpine roses, Alpenrose, Edelweis.
Below the Hut is the 1834 built Tauernhaus. It has been restored and is
now the National Park Hole Tauern museum. We continue down the other
side of the Pass to Sportgastein. We will then return by bus &
train to Mallnitz. We may take a bus to Jamingalm saving 1800ft. of
vertical; and we may return directly back down to Mallnitz. Moderate to
Strenuous hike. High point 8000 ft. Incredible mountain views.
- DAY FIVE: JULY 14 -
REST DAY OR HALF DAY EASY HIKE TWO
CHOICES: 1. SCHWUSSNERHUTTE HIKE. 2 HOURS. 500 ft. vertical ft. return
by slow train. 2. Hike to the famous Ragguschluct gorge. Then to the
Gutenquelle restaurant. Return via Schattseite. 3 1/2 hours.
- DAY SIX: JULY 15 -
HOCHALMBKICK – TAUERNSEE – KORNTAUERN GUIDED by Mr. Willhelm
Alber-Haub. 6 HOURS. 4100 ft. ascent and descent. High point – 8000 ft.
we will hike up to a high pass with breathtaking views and return on a
different trail. Strenuous
- DAY SEVEN: JULY 16 - ARTHUR
VON SCHMIDHAUS. GUIDED BY ME. 5 – 6 HOURS. 3600 ft. ascent and
descent. High point 7500 ft. Beautiful hike up to a high mountain hut
on a mountain Alpine lake. Moderate
- DAY EIGHT: JULY 17 -
HAUSLERALM TO DOLOMITENBLICK TO HIMMELBAUER. GUIDED BY Mr. Wilhelm
Alber- Haub. 6 – 7 HOURS. 3000 ft. ascent and descent. High Point- 6900
ft. Highlight of the week. Incredible views through out the hike.
Moderate to Strenuous.
- DAY NINE: JULY 18 - Trip
ends after breakfast
