Daily Plan:
7:00 breakfast and
break camp, 9:00 launch, 12 lunch break, 3:00 set up camp, 6:00
dinner followed by evening relaxation, reading, nature watching. We
will be doing primitive camping each night on designated campsites
(with pit toilets) and cooking over an open fire. We will share
cooking, cleaning, and firewood gathering duties. I will be purchasing
all the food. If anyone has a food allergy please let me know. There is
a ban on cans and glass bottles in Algonquin Park which limits certain
foods. We will carry a limited amount of fresh food. I try to avoid
highly processed dried foods. Typical meals will include granola with
powdered milk and dried fruit for breakfasts. Pita bread or crackers
with cheese and peanut butter for lunch. Dinners will include pasta,
couscous, bulgur, potatoes, carrots, cheese tofu, onions, dried beans,
and tuna. I have about 20 years experience guiding canoe trips in
Algonquin, this included planning/cooking meals.

Trip may change based
on weather, water levels and wind conditions.

INTRODUCTIONS, CANOE SAFETY ETC
We will paddle across
Smoke Lake, portage 240 meters into Ragged Lake and camp there.
If anyone wants to

stay or camp at. Crossing into Canada at Niagara Falls or the Watertown
area are good options.

We will paddle on Big
Porcupine Lake, Little Coon Lake, Whatnot Lake and camp at McGarvey
Lake. The portage lengths today are 590, 370, 900 and 430

Lake and hike about 2 miles to view an area of centuries-old White
Pines which once dominated this region.
Day #3, Thursday, September, 9, 2010
Cross McGarvey, Lemon
Lake, North Grace Lake to Lake Louisa. We will camp on this beautiful
lake for 2 nights. Portage lengths are 800, 165 and 1460 meters.

Explore the many
islands and bays of Lake Louisa. There are 5 different canoe routes
entering this large lake.
Day #5, Saturday, September 11, 2010
Leave Lake Louisa to
Rod & Gun Lake, Lawrence Lake, Kirkwood Lake, Phipps Lake,
Bonnechurre Lake and camp on Big Porcupine Lake. Portage lengths today
are 510, 415, 715, 60, 175 and 200 meters.
Day #6, Sunday, September 12, 2010
Return through Ragged
and then Smoke Lake. Portages are 590 and 240 meters.
There are showers,
restrooms, a restaurant and a gift shop at the Portage Store for those
choosing to indulge themselves. There are many options available in the
area if anyone wants to extend their time in Algonquin Park or the
nearby area. Please contact me for more information if interested. I
recommend logging museum and visitor center museum for informative
displays about the history of Algonquin Park.
