EXPLORE BRYCE & ZION NATIONAL PARKS
September 30 - Oct 6, 2012
$1633
  Dick Lightcap, Trip Leader

bryceJoin us on guided hikes through two spectacular national parks – Zion and Bryce Canyons. Both offer dramatic views of unique scenery with fantastic hiking experiences. This is the most favorable season to visit these magnificent places, escaping the summer heat of over 100 degrees, as well as the hordes of people who visit these parks. They provide a geological showpiece found nowhere on earth!  Their biological  diversity results from 4 life zones – desert, riparian woodland and coniferous forest – including 79 species of mammals, 289 types of birds, and 32 reptiles and amphibians. Mule deer, rock squirrels, collared lizards and Pinyon jays may be spotted during the day.

Our guide is a specialist in this region and a veteran of many trips that he led for the Four Corners School of Outdoor Education, which has provided leadership for several breathtaking ADK trips in recent years. He will provide us with geological, biological and historic information throughout the trip.

We will be staying at a motel in Springdale, Utah for the first three nights and another motel near Bryce Canyon for the rest of our stay.
Breakfast will be prepared by the staff, trail lunches will be provided and dinner will be taken at a restaurant.

The trip will originate and terminate at Las Vegas, Nevada. We will be transported by van from there to our first motel and returned at the conclusion of this Adventure Travel.

Participants are responsible for arriving at the Vegas airport (by 1pm on Sunday, September 30, 2012) and departing from Vegas after 3pm (on Saturday, October 6, 2012 – unless you make other arrangements to stay and gamble, etc. in Vegas.)

This is an active program requiring previous hiking experience. While varying levels of proficiency will be accommodated, participants must be in good shape. Hiking distances will range from 3 to 9 miles round trip and will require travel on trails over moderate hills at elevations up to 8,200 feet. Some trails are not groomed. This trip is not appropriate for individuals who are not comfortable with heights.

Outing Cost:  $1,633
