The day begins with optional stretching exercises.

Lunch on Bear Pond
Launching
our boats from the lawn right outside our dorm, paddlers cross Lower
St. Regis Lake, Spitfire Lake and Upper St. Regis Lake before making
the short carry to Bog Pond, Followed by another short carry to Bear
Pond. Then it’s just around the point to state land and lunch!

Hatch
Brook
It
is about a 25 mile drive to the put-in for Hatch Brook. We follow the
twisting stream, dodging alders until we reach the Salmon River. Right
at the confluence, there is a night sand bar – a perfect spot for lunch
and a swim. Then we continue down the Salmon River to the fisherman’s
access site and our take-out.

Union
Falls Pond
The
launch site is just below the dam at Franklin Falls. From there, we
head downstream toward the Union Falls Dam. A short side trip up a
stream leads to a very pretty waterfall. Lunch is on state owned land
about halfway down the pond.

Jones
Pond
The
launch site is at Church Pond, just across route 30 from the College.
We paddle through the pond to small canal and into Osgood Pond.
Headeing to the right, we enter a the outlety stream from Jones Pond.
It is a short paddle to the beach and lunch!

Stoney Creek Ponds
Our
put-in is on Corey’s Road, about 25 miles from the College. We paddle
downstream toward the
Racquette River. A sort sidetrip up Ampersand Brook is part of the
trip. Once we reach the river, we paddle upstream a short distance to a
campsite for lunch and a swim. It is just a short distance down river
to the take out at Axton Landing.

Lower
Osgood
The put in is
off route 30 about 8 miles north of Paul Smiths. The trip is downstream
all the way, with short side trips into Baker Pond and sometime Mud
Pond. The river flows into Meacham Lake and a short paddle clockwise
brings us to the beach for lunch and a swim! There have been occasional
sightings of moose track on the beach, but we are within earshot of the
highway and our takeout.

Little
Clear Pond
We
launch
directly onto the pond, which is just upstream from the State Fish
Hatchery. The pond is well known for the presence of loons and bird
watchers are never disappointed.
Another favorite
activity at Paddle Outing - afternoon snack time.
Mexican
train dominoes has become very popular and the
players are always willing to teach the game to others.
Then tt's time for
bocce ball
