Scott
spent seven years working for the National Outdoor Leadership School
(NOLS) leading three to five week courses focusing on outdoor travel
skills and leadership. Scott led 25 courses for NOLS, including
backcountry ski, rocking climbing, mountaineering, paddling and caving
courses. Scott was a facility manager for Cardigan Lodge, a
year-round Appalachian Mountain Club facility, from 1998-2001 where he
was responsible for daily operations and was directing and teaching
outdoor skill workshops. Scott was the Education Coordinator for
the Green Mountain Club from 2001 to 2002 where he directed and
instructed year-round adult outdoor skill workshops ranging from
low-impact camping to avalanche training. Scott was recently
featured in the AMC Guide to Outdoor Leadership. Scott taught Wilderness First Responder Courses for SOLO, Green Mountain Club, Appalachian Mountain Club and Wilderness Medicine Institute from 1997-2002. Scott has been an EMT for the last ten years, he is currently certified as an EMT I. Scott is studying medicine at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont and works in the Fletcher Allen Emergency Room. ![]() Kathleen is a
naturalist with extensive experience hiking, rock climbing,
backpacking, camping, paddling, and telemark skiing across the United
States, Asia, Africa, Central America, and Canada. Kathleen
reached the summit of Mount Kenya 17,058 feet in 1991, reached the
summit of El Donyo Lengai, an active volcano in Tanzania in 2002, and
sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1994 with a team of six.
Kathleen taught natural history in Bangkok, Thailand in 1995 and has
led numerous natural history, botany and tracking workshops in the
Northeast.
Kathleen has a Masters degree from the University of Vermont’s Field Naturalist Program. As part of her Program, Kathleen did research on wolves in Canada, and studied Botany in Costa Rica. She is currently the Director of the Northeast Wilderness Trust, a regional land trust working to preserve wilderness, and formerly served as the Executive Director of the Stowe Land Trust, Coordinator for the Greater Laurentian Wildlands Project and Outreach Director for Wild Earth magazine Kathleen and Scott have been married since 2001. They have hiked, camped, paddled, climbed and skied together in Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Yellowstone, Adirondacks, Green Mountains, White Mountains, Shawangunks, Sawtooth Wilderness, Allagash River, and Algonquin Provincial Park. Scott and Kathleen bring leadership, outdoor experience, good communication skills, dedication to land conservation, a strong medical background, natural history skills and fun. Kathleen & Scott |
